Don’t you just hate when you’re working off a pattern and it’s just not looking right? So you pull out all the stitches and start over, one, or if you’re like me, more than two times.
Now to explain myself. I was very excited about making myself a cotton sun hat. I thought I would whip it up in no time, and proudly post pictures of me wearing my wonderful new hat.
Alas, it was not to be. There’s something wrong with the pattern. The increase in stitches is happening too fast for the liking of my cotton yarn, and so it decided to turn wavy. We couldn’t have that.
So I took it out and started over, thinking I just wasn’t paying attention to the pattern, that perhaps I was more engrossed in Long Island Medium than I should be. You see, I had already made a small child version of this hat,and it turned out beautifully!
So what gives, pattern writer? Did you not test the larger sizes of your hat before you started offering it to people for purchase for five bucks!? Grumble…grumble.
So I decided to put the hat aside for now, just until my annoyance subsides and I try to figure out what adjustments need to be made.
In the meantime, I’ve started working on this lovely little item! I’m in love. Beautiful texture and super soft.
